Management of American oil giants, Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) have presented three shipping containers, laden with relief materials to victims in Asaba, who were displaced by the recent flood disaster in Delta State.
The gesture, according to the company’s manager (Policy, Government and Public Affairs), Deji Haastrup, followed a recent presentation of a N50 million cheque to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) as relief to flood victims at the national level.
Haastrup told the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Tony Nwaka, who received the containers that they were loaded with mattresses, towels, toilet soaps, rice, beans, water, blankets, palm oil, salt, beverages and others kitchen utensils.
He described as astonishing the devastating impact of the flood nationwide, adding that it has disrupted the food supply chain, and commended the state government for its relief efforts since the disaster started.
In the same vein, the management of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Limited has said that flood era is a trying moment for the Delta State Government, saying that the company shared in the pains of its host communities affected by the flood.

While expressing empathy with the people affected by the flood, he reiterated the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture commitment to being a good corporate citizen, focused on building and sustaining productive, collaborative and beneficial partnership for socio-economic development of Nigeria.
Agip’s donation came on the heels of donations by an Asaba-based socio-cultural organisation, Organisation for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) chapter.
